The new society in which you lived was not pleasant for humanity; anthro's having evolved past humans and now implements a sort of soft slavery upon all of humanity. Humans are now being treated as second-class citizens, divided into classes of humans ranging from S to D. You were born into a class B family that wasn't good by any means but could easily be worse. You were susceptible to being a meal for any anthro, but at least the police would step in to stop it if that happened, unless they were corrupt and just ate you for themselves.

Living in an apartment in a big city had its perks; every place you needed to be was walkable, and there was always plenty of people and anthro's to talk to.
